You want to talk about star studded? Whoa baby! The Departed was literally the NBA All-Star game of the movie industry. Let's start at the top. It was directed by Martin Scorsese who has been behind the camera of some of the greatest filmography works ever created including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas to name a few. But "The Departed" is the only movie that Mr. Scorsese has ever won a best director Academy Award for, and it was well deserved.

The Departed stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a Boston state police officer given the task of going undercover to infiltrate Irish Mob gangster Frank Costello's organization. Costello is a character loosely based on real life gangster Whitey Bulger, head of the Winter Hill Gang and is played by the brillant Jack Nicholson. Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg also play pivotal roles in this gritty, edge of your seat thriller.

While all of these great actors make The Departed a must add to your blu-ray collection, it is easily DiCaprio who steals the show. His portrayal of Billy Costigan, the good guy doing bad things to keep his undercover persona in tact, is powerful. The cat and mouse game that Costigan finds himself embroiled in throughout the movie is just phenomenally told through the eyes of Scorsese and I highly recommend that anyone who has not seen The Departed to put it on your watch list immediately.
